Analytical Engineer

Your Mission as Analytical Engineer:

In this role, you'll be the architect and owner of our core data models, working to transform raw data into a reliable, high-quality asset that empowers our entire organization.

This role requires a deep understanding of data warehousing principles, a knack for solving complex business problems with data, and the technical expertise to build scalable solutions. You'll be instrumental in shaping our data ecosystem and driving a data-driven culture.

You will be working on:

• CSGORoll — the world’s #1 skin gaming site. A community social gaming platform specifically designed for CS2 players, featuring unique in-house custom-built games, such as Roulette, Crash, Unboxing, and PVP.

• HypeDrop — a leading gamified shopping platform, where over 500,000 users experience the excitement of real-time mystery box openings, box battles, and customizable deals. Since 2018, HypeDrop has sold over 150 million boxes, revolutionizing the way people shop and win.

Your Mission:

• Design and Build Data Models: You'll own the full lifecycle of our data models. Using dbt (data build tool), you will design, build, and maintain complex, business-critical data models in BigQuery that are performant, scalable, and well-documented

• Improve Data Quality and Governance: Take ownership of data integrity. You'll define and implement robust data quality tests, documentation, and governance standards to ensure the accuracy and trustworthiness of our data assets

• Orchestrate and Optimize Pipelines: Schedule and automate dbt runs and other transformation jobs using Airflow on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You'll also identify and implement opportunities to optimize query performance and reduce data warehouse costs

• Translate Business Needs: Work closely with stakeholders across the company—from data analysts to product managers—to understand their data requirements. You'll translate complex business logic into clear, maintainable data models and metrics

• Version Control: Use GitHub for version control, collaborative development, and code reviews, following best practices for branching and pull requests

• Lead Projects: Take the lead on projects to integrate new data sources, refactor existing data pipelines, or implement new data governance frameworks

• Support Business Data Requirements: Ensure stakeholders across the business receive the data they need through reports, ad-hoc requests and dashboards

Your Superpowers:

• 3+ years of professional experience in a data-focused role, such as Analytical Engineer, Data Warehouse Developer, or similar

• Expert-level proficiency in SQL. You should be comfortable writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures and window functions

• Extensive experience with dbt. You should be familiar with advanced dbt concepts, including macros, packages and custom testing frameworks

• Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically with BigQuery and other services like Cloud Storage

• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating data pipelines and familiarity with Python

• Proficient with GitHub for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows

• A strong understanding of data warehousing design principles (e.g., Kimball, Inmon) and data modeling methodologies

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

• Experience with a BI tool like Sigma, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.

• Experience with other GCP services like Dataflow, Cloud Functions, or Pub/Sub.
