Data Engineer

Your Mission as Data Engineer:

In this role, you'll work on building and maintaining our data infrastructure, playing a key role in ensuring our data is reliable, accessible and ready for analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a foundational understanding of data engineering concepts who is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

You will be working on:

• CSGORoll — the world’s #1 skin gaming site. A community social gaming platform specifically designed for CS2 players, featuring unique in-house custom-built games, such as Roulette, Crash, Unboxing, and PVP.

• HypeDrop — a leading gamified shopping platform, where over 500,000 users experience the excitement of real-time mystery box openings, box battles, and customizable deals. Since 2018, HypeDrop has sold over 150 million boxes, revolutionizing the way people shop and win.

Your Mission:

• Develop and Maintain Data Pipelines: You'll build, test, and deploy data pipelines using Airflow to orchestrate and automate data ingestion, transformation, and delivery

• Data Modeling and Transformation: Use dbt (data build tool) to create and manage data models in our data warehouse. You'll write SQL to transform raw data into a clean, usable format

• Data Warehouse Management: Work with BigQuery to manage our data warehouse. This includes schema design, query optimization, and cost optimization

• Version Control: Use GitHub for version control, collaborative development, and code reviews, following best practices for branching and pull requests

• Cloud Infrastructure: Utilize GCP services to support our data workflows

• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor data pipelines and systems for performance issues and errors. You'll troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure data availability

• Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other engineers to understand data needs and deliver solutions that meet business requirements

• Familiarity with Data Concepts: A basic understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT principles, and data modeling

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Python is a must

• Tooling Experience (or Eagerness to Learn): Some hands-on experience or a strong desire to learn the following tools is essential:

  • Apache Airflow: Experience with creating and scheduling Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs)

  • dbt: Understanding of how to use dbt for data transformation

  • BigQuery: Familiarity with Google BigQuery or another cloud-based data warehouse (like Snowflake or Redshift)

  • GitHub: Experience with version control and collaborative coding workflows

• Cloud Platform Experience: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major cloud providers like AWS or Azure

• Problem-Solving Skills: An analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving

• Communication: Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, such as testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)

• Experience with other GCP services like Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, or Dataflow

• A portfolio of personal projects demonstrating your skills
